“How will you diagnose it?”
The answer should involve measurement — power rails, backlight strings, board isolation. If it involves ‘we will try a new board and see’, keep looking.

Why choose us
The most expensive repair is the wrong one, done three times. Here is what separates a technician who diagnoses from a parts fitter who guesses — and why it matters to your wallet.
Here is a story we hear from new customers more often than we would like. A television stops working. Somebody comes out and replaces the power supply board. It works for two weeks and dies again. Somebody replaces the mainboard. Same result. By the third visit the customer has spent more than the television is worth, and the original fault — a failing backlight quietly overloading everything downstream — is still sitting there, doing exactly what it was doing on day one.
Nobody in that story was dishonest. They were simply swapping parts instead of measuring, and a television does not reward that approach. It is a chain: mains input, power supply, mainboard, T-CON, panel drive, backlight. A failure anywhere in the chain can present as a symptom somewhere else entirely.
Fault finding is the whole skill. It is the difference between a technician and a parts fitter, and it is the single biggest factor in what a repair ends up costing you.
Choosing a repairer
Including us. If a repairer cannot answer these, that is information.
01
The answer should involve measurement — power rails, backlight strings, board isolation. If it involves ‘we will try a new board and see’, keep looking.
02
A written fixed price after diagnosis and before work is the only acceptable answer. Anything open-ended is a blank cheque.
03
A technician who found the fault can point at it. One who guessed cannot. It is a very revealing question.
04
The correct answer is no, and anyone who says yes is either misinformed or hoping you are. It is not economically possible on any modern television.
05
The willingness to turn down work is the single best indicator of an honest repairer. Ask it directly.
06
Transport is how televisions get broken. A repairer who works on site is protecting your set, not just being convenient.
Our commitment
Short list. All of it enforceable.
We diagnose before we quoteMeasured, at component level, not guessed at
A fixed written priceAgreed before any work starts. Nothing added afterwards
We show you the failed componentYou should never have to take our word for it
Software fixes are never sold as hardwareIf it is firmware, you pay for time, not parts
We come to the televisionYour set does not get transported, so it does not get damaged
We turn down work we should turn downIf it is not worth repairing, we will tell you
FAQ
Straight answers to what people ask us most.
WhatsApp us the make, the screen size and a short video of what the TV is doing. We can usually narrow the fault down before a technician is even dispatched.
WhatsApp 063 866 0971Because the part that failed is almost never the part you paid for. The panel — the expensive component — is remarkably durable and rarely fails. What fails are the boards around it, and those cost a fraction to repair. Replacing a television because of a R60 capacitor is an expensive way to solve a cheap problem.
Some things, yes — a firmware update, a cache clear, a remote re-pairing. What we would strongly discourage is opening the set. A television power supply stores dangerous voltage in its capacitors long after it is unplugged, and it can hurt you badly. It is not like changing a plug.
Because a television is a chain, and a failure in one link produces symptoms in another. A failing backlight can drag the power supply out of tolerance and look exactly like a power fault. Replace the power board and it fails again in a fortnight. That is how people end up paying three times for one fault.
Honestly, it is diagnostic skill more than any certificate. The difference between a technician and a parts fitter is whether they can measure a rail under load, read a blink code, test a backlight string and prove where the fault is before spending your money. Ask any repairer how they intend to diagnose it. The answer tells you a great deal.
For the great majority of faults, it is better — because the television never gets transported, and transport is what breaks televisions. Only complex fine-pitch board work genuinely needs a bench and a microscope, and we will tell you upfront if yours does.
Insist on a diagnosis before a quote. Be sceptical of anyone who names a price over the phone for a fault they have not seen. Ask them to show you the failed component. And be very wary of anyone who offers to repair a cracked screen — it is not economically possible, and the offer tells you what you need to know.
