We get a particular kind of call about Panasonic televisions. It is rarely “should I just buy a new one?” It is almost always “please tell me this can be fixed.” That is especially true of the plasmas — the ZT and VT series in particular — which many people still regard as the finest televisions ever sold, and which no modern budget set genuinely matches for motion and black level.
So we take Panasonic repairs seriously. The plasma faults are well understood: Y-sustain and Z-sustain board failures, buffer board failures producing bands across a section of the screen, power supply faults. All diagnosable from the symptom, and all repairable, with parts for the common failures still obtainable.
On the modern Viera LED and OLED sets, the story is more conventional — power supply boards, backlights, mainboards, firmware — and equally repairable. Panasonic builds well, and its panels routinely outlast the boards driving them.

Yes, and we do it regularly. Panasonic plasmas — particularly the VT and ZT series — remain among the best televisions ever made, and their faults are well understood. Sustain boards, buffer boards and power supplies all fail in predictable ways, and parts for the common failures remain obtainable.
My Panasonic plasma flashes once then goes black.
That is a classic Y-sustain board failure. The board attempts to drive the panel, fails, and shuts down. It is the most common Panasonic plasma fault and it is repairable.
Is it worth repairing a Panasonic plasma in 2026?
If you like the picture — and most plasma owners do, fiercely — then yes. A board repair costs a fraction of a comparable replacement, and no budget modern LED will match a good plasma for motion handling. Where the panel itself has failed, that changes, and we will say so.

Do you repair Panasonic OLED televisions?
Yes. The boards — power, mainboard, T-CON — are all repairable. Burn-in on the OLED panel is not, and we will tell you plainly if that is what you have.
Are Panasonic parts available in South Africa?
For the common failures, yes — including sustain board components for the plasmas. Model-specific mainboards on older sets can be harder to find, which is where component-level repair matters.
