TV repair services
From a set that will not switch on to a smart platform that will not load an app. We diagnose properly, quote a fixed price, and repair most faults in your home on the first visit.
That distinction is the whole of our business. A modern television is a panel — expensive, and remarkably durable — surrounded by a handful of circuit boards that are neither. The boards fail. The panel very rarely does.
So when a set will not switch on, or shows no picture, or loses its sound, the sensible first question is not “which television should I buy?” It is “which component has failed, and what does it cost to replace?” The answer is frequently a great deal less than people expect.
Below is every service we offer, grouped by the symptom you are actually experiencing. If you are not sure which one applies, start with diagnostics and fault finding — or simply send us a WhatsApp describing what the television is doing.
Services
Find the symptom you are experiencing. Each page explains the likely cause, what it costs and how we fix it.
01
We come to the television rather than asking you to move it. Most faults are fixed in your home, on the first visit.
02
We test systematically rather than swapping parts hopefully. It is the cheapest part of the job and it determines everything else.
03
The TV will not turn on, clicks repeatedly, or sits on standby. The most common fault in South Africa, and one of the most repairable.
04
Component-level mainboard repair rather than blind board swapping — which matters enormously when a replacement board is unobtainable.
05
Black screen with sound, lines, bands, shadows and dark patches. Usually the backlight or the T-CON, and usually repairable.
06
No audio, crackling, distortion or lip-sync drift. We check the free fixes — settings, routing, HDMI-ARC — before we quote anything.
07
Dead ports and ‘no signal’ messages. Usually surge damage, and usually repairable at port level.
08
Will not connect, drops the network, or apps refuse to load. Frequently a network or certificate problem, not a hardware fault.
09
Boot loops, frozen menus and failed updates. Firmware recovery costs nothing in parts, and it is the first thing we try.
10
Remotes that have stopped responding, lost their pairing, or need replacing. The cheapest call you will make to us.
11
No signal, missing channels or a picture that breaks up. The fault is almost always the aerial, the cable or the connector — not the television.
12
Mounted into the correct substrate with the correct fixings, cables concealed, and the whole system set up and tested.
13
Where our schedule allows. We will give you an honest answer about timing rather than a hopeful one.
14
Please read this before enquiring. We do not repair cracked screens, and we explain exactly why.
TV types
Different technologies fail in different ways. Find yours.
01
Apps, Wi-Fi, boot loops and frozen platforms across Tizen, webOS, VIDAA, Android and Roku.
02
Backlight strip failure is the dominant fault. A black screen with sound is almost always repairable.
03
Board-level repairs, and an honest conversation about why burn-in cannot be fixed by anybody.
04
Premium panel, familiar faults. QLED still has a backlight, and it still fails in repairable ways.
05
Capacitors, inverters and backlights. Older sets, and honest advice about when they are worth saving.
06
Y-sustain, Z-sustain and buffer board faults. Still repairable, and parts are still obtainable.
07
Ordinary electronics, extraordinary handling. Curved panels must never be laid face down.
08
Boot loops, Play Store failures and storage exhaustion. Nearly all of it is software.
09
Blank home screens and app sign-in failures — usually an account or clock problem, not hardware.
FAQ
The things people ask us most often, before they book.
WhatsApp us the make, the screen size and a short video of what the TV is doing. We can usually narrow the fault down before a technician is even dispatched.
WhatsApp 063 866 0971As a rule of thumb: if the repair costs less than about a third of what a comparable replacement would, it is almost always worth doing. The most common faults — power supply and backlight — sit comfortably below that line. We will always give you an honest verdict, including telling you when a set is not worth spending money on.
On site, for the great majority of faults. Power supply failures, backlight problems, audio faults, HDMI issues and smart TV software problems are all routinely handled in your home. Only complex board-level work needing a microscope requires the set to come with us, and we will tell you upfront if yours is one of those.
No, and we want to be completely clear about it. We do not repair cracked, shattered or physically damaged screens, and we do not buy broken televisions. A replacement panel almost always costs more than a new set of the same size.
Every major brand: Samsung, LG, Sony, Hisense, TCL, Skyworth, Sinotec, Panasonic, Philips, Toshiba and Vizio, among others. See our brands page for brand-specific fault information.
It depends entirely on what has failed, which is why we diagnose before we quote. Power supply repairs and backlight replacements — the two most common jobs — are among the more affordable. Our cost guide sets out realistic ranges for each fault.
Yes. Installation, repairs, dish alignment, LNB replacement, decoder setup, Extra View and signal fault finding. If you need the television mounted and the DStv installed, we can do both in one visit.
