On-site TV repairs — we come to the television

Most television faults do not need a workshop. Our TV technicians arrive with diagnostic equipment and the parts that fail most often, and a large share of the repairs we do are finished in your lounge, on the same visit.

We come to you Most faults, one visit Quoted before we start

Moving a television is how televisions get broken

The most damaging thing that happens to most flat-screen televisions is not the original fault. It is the trip to the repair shop. A 55-inch panel is a thin sheet of glass and plastic under tension, and it does not enjoy being laid flat on a back seat, wedged into a boot, or leaned against a wall while somebody fetches the keys.

So we invert the process. Instead of asking you to dismount an expensive television and drive it across town, we bring the workshop to the television. Our technicians carry diagnostic gear, a meter, common replacement boards and the spares that account for the overwhelming majority of the faults we see.

That is not a marketing convenience. It genuinely produces better outcomes: fewer cracked panels, fewer bent brackets, fewer arguments about who damaged what, and a much faster turnaround for you.

The detail

What we can realistically fix in your home

On-site repair is not a compromise. For the majority of faults it is simply the better way to do the job.

Power faults — the TV will not switch on

A dead television is usually not dead. It is a failed power supply board, a swollen capacitor, or a standby circuit that has given up. These are among the most common faults in South Africa because of how often our power goes off and comes back, and they are very often repaired on site in a single visit.

No picture, but you can hear sound

If the audio plays and the screen stays black, the panel itself is frequently fine. The usual culprits are the backlight driver, the LED backlight strips or the T-CON board. We test for all three on site before recommending anything.

No sound, or distorted and crackling sound

Audio faults are typically an amplifier circuit on the mainboard, a failed speaker, or a settings and output-routing problem caused by a soundbar or HDMI-ARC. We check the whole audio chain rather than assuming the television is at fault.

HDMI ports that have stopped responding

Dead HDMI ports are usually the result of a surge, or of years of plugging and unplugging. In many cases the port itself can be repaired or the input re-driven — you do not automatically need a new mainboard.

Smart TV, Wi-Fi and app problems

A television that will not connect, drops off the network, or refuses to load its apps is often a software or firmware problem rather than a hardware failure. That is a conversation and a settings-level fix, not a board swap, and it costs you a great deal less.

Boot loops and frozen start-up screens

A set that shows the manufacturer logo and then restarts, over and over, usually has a corrupted firmware image or a failing memory chip. We can attempt a firmware recovery on site before anything is replaced.

What you get

What you get from an on-site repair

The reason we work this way, in plain terms.

01

Your television never leaves the house

No transport, no handling damage, no chance of a cracked panel on the way to a workshop.

02

You see what we see

We show you the failed component and explain what killed it. You are not asked to take our word for anything.

03

A price before we touch it

The diagnosis comes first, then a fixed quote. If you decide not to proceed, you are free to walk away.

04

Most repairs finish the same visit

We carry the parts that fail most often, which is why we rarely need to come back a second time.

05

An honest verdict, including 'do not bother'

If the repair costs more than the television is worth, we will say so — even though that means we do not get the work.

Our process

How an on-site repair actually runs

01

Call, WhatsApp or fill in the quote form. Describe the symptom in your own words — and if you can, send a short video. It genuinely helps.

02

We book a real time slot

Not ‘sometime Tuesday’. A confirmed window, with the name of the technician attending.

03

On-site diagnosis and a fixed quote

We test, we find the cause, and we hand you a price. You decide whether we continue.

04

We repair, test and hand over

Most repairs are completed on the spot. We test it with you watching, and we do not leave until you are satisfied.

FAQ

On-site TV repairs — your questions answered

The things people actually ask us on the phone, answered straight.

Not sure what is wrong?

WhatsApp us the make, the screen size and a short video of what the TV is doing. We can usually narrow the fault down before a technician is even dispatched.

Do you really repair televisions in my home?

Yes, and for most faults it is our default. Power supply failures, backlight problems, audio faults, HDMI issues and smart TV software problems are all routinely handled on site. Only a minority of jobs — usually complex board-level work needing a bench and a microscope — require the set to come with us, and we will tell you upfront if yours is one of them.

What if you cannot fix it on the first visit?

It happens occasionally, usually because a specific board has to be ordered. If that is the case we will tell you what the part is, what it costs and how long it will take, and you decide whether to proceed. You are never committed to a repair you have not agreed to.

Do you charge a callout fee?

We charge for the diagnostic assessment, because finding the real fault is skilled work and it takes time. If you go ahead with the repair, that assessment fee is taken into account in the final price. You will know the number before we come out — there are no surprises.

Can you repair a television that is wall mounted?

Usually, yes. Many faults can be diagnosed and repaired with the set still on the bracket. Where we do need to take it down, we do it with two technicians and the correct equipment — never single-handed.

Do you repair broken or cracked screens on site?

No. We do not repair cracked, shattered or physically damaged screens at all, on site or otherwise. A replacement panel almost always costs more than a new television of the same size. We also do not buy broken TVs. Please read our full explanation before enquiring.

Which areas do you cover for on-site repairs?

Johannesburg, Pretoria, Sandton, Centurion, Midrand, the East Rand and the West Rand. See our service areas page for the full list of Gauteng towns and suburbs.
