What we actually do all day

Most of our work is unglamorous and enormously worthwhile. A power supply board that surged when the lights came back on. A set of LED backlight strips that finally gave up after eight years of running hot. A capacitor the size of a fingernail that dried out quietly and took a perfectly good R12 000 television down with it.

These are cheap repairs on expensive equipment, and they are the entire reason this business exists. The panel — the part that actually costs money, the part you were really buying — almost never fails. The circuit boards around it do. And boards can be repaired.

The sentence that costs us money

We tell people, regularly, that their television is not worth repairing. If the fix costs most of what a replacement would, we say so, and we do not take the job.

It is the least profitable thing we do and it is the reason people phone us again, and recommend us to their neighbours, and come back to us four years later when the next set goes. A repair business that only ever says yes is not being helpful. It is being expensive.

Two things we do not do

We do not repair cracked or broken screens. On a modern television the panel is the television, and a replacement panel reliably costs more than a new set of the same size. We could take your money and order one. We would rather tell you the truth for nothing.

And we do not buy broken televisions — not for parts, not for scrap, not at all. We are a repair service, not a dealer.

How we work

On site, in your home or your business. We bring the diagnostic gear and the parts that fail most often, because moving a large flat-screen television is the single most common way one gets genuinely destroyed. We diagnose before we quote, we quote before we start, and the technician who quotes you is the technician who does the work.

You will not go through a call centre, because we do not have one. When you phone, you will speak to somebody who repairs televisions.
