Sinotec has been selling televisions in South Africa for many years and has built a genuine following on value. It is not trying to compete with a Sony flagship, and it does not pretend to. It is trying to put a decent, large screen in a home for a sensible amount of money, and it succeeds.
The failure patterns follow the price point. Power supply boards are where value brands economise, and Sinotec is no exception — capacitors dry out, switching components fail, and a set that worked perfectly on Friday will not switch on by Monday. Grid surges accelerate all of it.

My Sinotec will not switch on.
Almost certainly the power supply board, and most likely the capacitors on it. It is the most common Sinotec fault and one of the least expensive repairs there is.

My Sinotec has no sound.
Check the audio output setting first — if it is routed to an external device that is off, the television will be silent. If that is not it, the amplifier circuit on the mainboard or a failed speaker is the likely cause, and both are inexpensive to repair.
How long will a repaired Sinotec last?
If the power board is properly rebuilt with quality components, several more years is entirely realistic. Where we can fit a higher-rated capacitor than the original, we do — and that genuinely extends the life of the set.
Do you repair a cracked Sinotec screen?
